Andrea Grace Johnson is the Deputy Division Chief of the U.S. Census Bureau’s Geography Division. She oversees the programs and people that support the Census Bureau’s address and spatial data assets. In her 27+ years at the Census Bureau Andrea has supported the collection and maintenance of addresses and spatial data in the 2000, 2010, and 2020 Censuses from a variety of vantage points at Census Headquarters and in the Chicago Regional Office. Throughout her career she has led a wide variety of address and spatial data collection and update programs emphasizing smart use of technology and cross-agency collaboration wherever possible. More recently she has become an address data equity advocate- to support the creation and standardization of addresses wherever possible to improve address-based activities in data collection, and daily life. She holds a bachelor of arts in advertising and sociology from Michigan State University and a master of science in demography, with a heavy dose of human geography, from the Penn State University.
